Yarrabah

Yarrabah community is located 45 mins south east from the city of Cairns.  Yarrabah means "meeting place" .  The traditional owner are the Gunghandji people who span 12+ generations (this is the generation from the tribe's King Mumenny)since the establishment of the Aboriginal mission in the late 1800's.  The tribal moiety group are Guru-Gulu and Guru-Bana.  These two moities make the one tribe of the Gunghandji people of Yarrabah.  There are still traditional ties to the land and sea and the Kunghi people still live in the Yarrabah community today.
